Kearney, NE, February 29, 2024 –In a significant visit underscoring the importance of innovative education strategies in Nebraska, Dr. Brian Maher, the Nebraska Education Commissioner and former Kearney Public Schools Superintendent, toured the Hanny Arram Center for Success today. Accompanied by KPS junior Madalynn Hanna, Principal Jason Owens, and current Kearney Public Schools Superintendent Jason Mundorf, Dr. Maher explored the facility's unique approach to supporting students in grades 6-12.

The Hanny Arram Center for Success is at the forefront of educational innovation, offering a suite of programs designed to cater to the diverse needs of students. With a focus on improving educational opportunities, the center provides targeted support through flexible alternative educational programs, therapeutic support, assistance for suspended students, and a comprehensive 6-12 virtual academy. 

In addition to these programs, the center also offers a comprehensive tutoring program available for students in grades 3 through 12. This expansion of services highlights the center's commitment to addressing the educational needs of a broader student population and reinforcing the foundation of academic excellence within the community.

During his visit, Dr. Maher engaged with staff and students, gaining first-hand insight into how the center's programs are making a tangible difference in the lives of Kearney Public Schools students.  Dr. Maher expressed that the Hanny Arram Center for Success is a symbol of hope for students who need support beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Principal Jason Owens highlighted the center's commitment to student success, stating, "Our programs are designed to meet students where they are, providing the necessary tools and support to help them overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals."

Superintendent Jason Mundorf echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the critical role of the Hanny Arram Center for Success in the broader KPS strategy to enhance educational outcomes. "The center is a key component of our district's mission to provide high-quality, equitable education for all students," Mundorf noted. "Mr. Owens and his staff do a fantastic job of creating unique educational experiences tailored to individual student needs, and we have witnessed fantastic success stories for many students who were previously struggling. We are grateful for Dr. Maher's visit and the ongoing support from the Nebraska Department of Education."
